So, I have no inspiration for a post today and I thought, well now is as good a time as any to confess something...
I didn't read Half Broke Horses.
There, I said it...
I genuinely feel awful as I have never been part of a book club before and when I joined theSlow Readers Book Club I really wanted to enjoy the first book selected, however
I just couldn't get into it...
I got the book from the library, I read the first few chapters, I skipped to the middle and aptly read the sentence "we don't need another half broke horse around here" (it was something along those lines and what are the chances??) and finding no inspiration, I skipped to the end before reading the history of the author and her Grandmother (which was really quite interesting).
I really love reading but this book just didn't grab me at all - maybe because I don't really have much knowledge of American history to picture it? I don't know. I didn't hate what I read - I just didn't enjoy it and if a book doesn't grab me quickly enough I don't try to force myself to read it.
It has been interesting reading the other members reviews of it on the forum though and I am really looking forward to the next book - 'Alice I Have Been' by Melanie Benjamin- I managed to get an ebook of it so its going on my reader (my new favourite toy!) ASAP!
Hopefully I will be able to provide a proper review of the next book...
