I'm jumping out of the chronological order that we visited places on our holiday here to one of the last days of our trip. We all knew that we wanted to go to Holy Island, so I spent most of the week looking forward to it and I wasn't disappointed.

To get to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne you have to travel across a causeway which twice a day is covered by the North Sea, isolating the island for hours at a time. Luckily for us the times worked out quite well and we were over and back again with no trouble and we even fit in a pub lunch (hurray, I had the most amazing homemade scotch egg - no pics though I'm afraid, I ate it!).

One of the tourist destinations on the island is the Priory. You've probably noticed that I do love ruined abbeys and priorys, so I was particularly excited about this and although we didn't pay to enter the grounds, there was still a lot to see walking around outside of the Priory and around the Island.

I can't wait to share more photos of Lindisfarne, so many people recommended it to us as a place to visit and it really was stunning, almost like a step back in time where it was quieter and communication was harder.
